Smart Villages: the Estonian experience

The Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge Center METK CAP (a center that evaluates the impact of EU Common Agricultural Policy measures in Estonia), in collaboration with LEADER Action Groups, has published a compilation of innovative and community projects from rural Estonia. This document aims to share Estonia’s strategies and inspire other countries in their community development efforts.

Two key elements: 1) the smart village approach (a community-centered operation that considers the region’s needs, specific characteristics, strengths, and opportunities)  and 2) the support by LEADER measures (to facilitate the smart village strategy process, enable experience exchange, and foster networks through cooperation among various local action groups.)
